Pinochle Card Game @ Card room
Apr 5 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Pinochle is a trick-taking card game typically for two to four players and played with a 48-card deck. It is derived from the card game bezique; players score points by trick-taking and also by forming combinations of cards into melds. It is thus considered part of a “trick-and-meld” category which also includes a cousin, belote. Each hand is played in three phases: bidding, melds, and tricks. The standard game today is called “partnership auction pinochle.”

Tai Chi @ Main Hall
Apr 6 @ 10:30 am – 11:30 am

Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that has evolved over centuries to become a means of alleviating stress and anxiety, a form of “meditation in motion.” Advocates claim that it promotes serenity and inner peace. The phrase “t’ai chi ch’uan” translates to “supreme ultimate fist” or “boundless fist”.

Cost is $5.00 per week or $2.50 per session

99 Card Game @ Card room
Apr 6 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

The basic idea is that every player secretly bids to win an exact number of tricks, neither more nor less. Although similar games have been developed since (and the comparable game of Oh Hell! dates from the 1930s), Ninety-Nine’s more original feature is that you have to remove cards from your hand in order to make your bid, which makes life very tricky indeed.  Loads of fun!
